LAPOM
O Laboratório de Peixes e Ornamentais Marinhos (LAPOM) desenvolve tecnologia para a produção de peixes ornamentais marinhos, com foco nos nativos e ameaçados de extinção. O objetivo é que os estudos com estes peixes, através da produção em cativeiro, poderá auxiliar no entendimento da biologia das espécies bem como servir como uma importante ferramenta para diminuir o extrativismo destes peixes.
O LAPOM também realiza pesquisas com espécies exóticas de importância econômica como peixes palhaços.
The Fish and Marine Ornamentals Laboratory (LAPOM) develops technology for the production of marine ornamental fishes, especially Brazilian and threatened with extinction species. Producing these fishes in captivity can contribute to the knowledge of the biology of the species, being also an important tool for diminishing the harvest of fishes in the wild.
LAPOM also develops research with breading and rearing exotic species of economic importance, such as clownfish.
